Anamorphic 35mm cinematic medium shot, shot on Kodak Vision3 250D
film stock. Shallow depth of field, T2 aperture. Late afternoon in
Paris, just after a brief rain — wet cobblestones, soft reflections,
the air still heavy with moisture.
A narrow Parisian street corner where two streets meet. A young
woman, Camille, stands under the wet awning of a tabac shop, dark
hair damp, no umbrella, beige trench coat slightly darkened at the
shoulders from rain. She holds an unlit cigarette in one hand and
a lighter in the other. Across from her, Julien, a man in his late
twenties in a gray wool sweater, dark tousled hair, leans against
the wet stone wall with hands deep in his pockets, looking down at
the puddle between them. The puddle reflects fragments of yellow
window light from the bistro across the street.
Camille flicks the lighter — it doesn't catch. She tries again —
catches. She lights the cigarette, takes a slow inhale, exhales
smoke into the cool damp air. She speaks quietly in French, voice
slightly hoarse:
"Tu pars vraiment demain?"
Julien doesn't look up at first. His jaw tightens. After a long
beat, he lifts his eyes to hers. He answers in French, his voice
low, almost a whisper:
"Oui. Demain matin."
Camille nods slowly. She takes another drag, looks past him down
the wet street. Her eyes glisten but no tears fall. She murmurs:
"D'accord."
Audio: soft French dialogue with intimate breathy texture, very
quiet — almost reluctant to be spoken. Ambient layer: distant
traffic on a wet street, water dripping from the awning, a far-off
accordion.
Background, deep and soft: a woman in a long coat hurries past
clutching a baguette, a man pushes a bicycle through a puddle, the
bistro across the street glows warm yellow through fogged windows
with silhouettes of diners inside, a Citroën 2CV passes slowly with
windshield wipers still going.
Camera: anamorphic 40mm lens equivalent, locked-off medium two-shot
with Camille frame-left and Julien frame-right. The wet ground
reflections in the lower third of the frame. Subtle focus breathing.
Very slow imperceptible push-in over 12 seconds.
Lighting: overcast post-rain sky as soft top light, warm yellow
spill from the bistro window across the street catching the right
side of Julien's face, blue-cool fill in the shadows. Subtle
anamorphic flare from the bistro window light, faint blue-purple
streak across the frame.
Texture: visible 35mm film grain, halation around the bistro window
glow, slight lens softening at edges, gentle chromatic aberration.
Color grade: muted teal-blue ambient + warm yellow practical light
contrast. Skin tones pulled slightly cool except where catching the
bistro spill. Wet cobblestones reflecting both temperatures.
NO SUBTITLES. NO TEXT ON SCREEN. Pure cinematic frame only.
Mood: a goodbye that doesn't say goodbye.
